DATA PROTECTION OFFICER (DPO)

The DPO is responsible for the protection of personal data processed within his organisation. He is the guarantor of his company's compliance with the various regulations on the subject, foremost among which is the General Regulation on the Protection of Personal Data (RGPD). The DPO advises, informs and provides training within the company. His role is defined by the European regulation, article 37 of which makes his presence mandatory according to several criteria, in particular linked to the nature of the organisation and the processing operations it carries out.

If there's one area in which the saying "When in doubt, abstain" is not appropriate, it's when you don't know whether or not you should appoint a DPO!
