FALSE NEGATIVE / POSITIVE
When a detection system raises an alert when it should not, it is a false positive (action has been taken). When, on the other hand, it does not raise an alert when it should have, it is a false negative (no action has been taken). In both cases, false alarms must be identified and corrected.
And when it produces neither, the product is perfect. Or unplugged.
