TYPOSQUATTING

Typosquatting consists of reserving a domain name that is very close to another legitimate name (by changing a letter, playing on the visual confusion between the letter "i" and the number 1, choosing a different extension, etc.). This then allows the attacker to use the fake domain name that he controls to carry out attacks (particularly by phishing) by pretending to be his victim.

One of the differences between a typosquatted domain name and an old abandoned building in the city center is essentially the smell.
